Business Streamlining - Blueprint For Success

 by Tony Jacowski
At its core, business streamlining is the process that is taken to streamline a business. From cross training employees to adopting new methods for old procedures, the process starts with a need or void that must be filled and seeks to supply a solution that will work best for all parties involved, with little or no impact to the bottom line. Simple everyday things like turning off lights when leaving the office, raising the temperature of the air conditioner while gone on a holiday, holding video or web conferences versus flying cross country to meet with fellow members of management...these all might seem like a drop in the proverbial bucket, but in reality, you've just cut down on travel costs and energy costs that could add up to thousands of dollars. This is business streamlining at its most basic form.
Perhaps you wish to take it up a notch and see how it applies on a higher level? A common means in a dwindling market of ensuring the stability of the company is to make each employee as valuable as possible. Cross training, while seen as a luxury or means of advancement in the past, has become more of an increasing requirement...and why not? Wouldn't you want to be able to call into a company with one reason in mind and still be able to tackle a question that dealt with another aspect of your account without having to be transferred?
The bottom line is that business streamlining is a smart choice for most businesses and their employees today. The business gets to cut costs and find the most effective means of delivering their product or service. The employee gets a little more security in their positions as well as additional skills that may aid them in their future career moves. It's a win-win situation for all involved.
